Membership in PREOSSIA
I. Subscribing Membership:
Subscribing Members receive the newsletter six times per year, receive a free copy of the PREOSSIA Old-Style Siamese Breeder's List, may join the PREOSSIA online discussion group (listserv), and are welcome to contact Voting Members of the club to make suggestions or express concerns about club issues. Subscribing Membership is for those who want to be kept informed about the progress of the Old-Style Siamese and to be able to help support the breed and the club, but who don't currently wish to become substantially involved in volunteering for the club and administering its programs.
Anyone may become a Subscribing Member who completes an application and whose application is approved by the Membership Committee.
Dues are $20.00 per year—in U.S. dollars. However, members living outside of the U.S. must be willing to receive their newsletters via email becaue the cost of sending newsletters outside of the country by snailmail is prohibitive.
To request an applicaton for a Subscribing Membership, please email your name and postal mailing address and a few words about why you want to join the club to:
Please do NOT send payment to the Membership Chair or to any other address listed on this Web site. We cannot accept dues payments unless it is accompanied by a completed membership application and that application has been approved by the Membership Chair. Please write to the Membership Chair for information about the club or to request a membership application.
II. Affiliate Membership:
Affiliate Members have all of the rights and privileges of Subscribing Members and also have the option of attending online meetings of the Voting Membership six times per year. Affiliate Members may participate in meeting discussions and are eligible to serve on some club committees. Basically Affiliate Membership is for those who want to begin to become involved in club programs and policymaking. It is also for experienced PREOSSIA members who want a degree of active involvement in the club without the responsibilities of Voting Members.
Anyone who has been a Subscribing Member for at least one year may become an Affiliate Member if he is nominated and sponsored by at least one Voting Member.
Dues are $25.00 per year.
III. Voting Membership:
Voting Members have all of the rights and privileges of Subscribing Members. In addition, Voting Members act as a large board of directors for the club. Only Voting Members may vote, hold office, and serve on all club committees. Voting Members must be online and may attend all meetings of the club which are held six times per year. Voting Members must make themselves available to all other members who wish to express concerns or make suggestions, and the Voting Member may elect to pass those communications along to the general Voting Membership at meetings. Voting Members may write proposals and place them on the agenda for a vote at each meeting. Voting Members may nominate and sponsor new Affiliate Members. Voting Members may also nominate candidates for Voting Membership. In short, Voting Membership is for those who wish to be involved in overseeing club programs and making club policy. It is the responsibility and the privilege of Voting Members to ensure that the mission of PREOSSIA, to preserve the Old-Style Siamese and improve the health of the breed, is fulfilled.
Anyone who has been a Subscribing Member or Affiliate Member for at least one year may become a Voting Member if he is nominated by one Voting Member and approved by a vote of the Voting Membership.
Dues are $25.00 per year.
